MiekoMieko Nakashima

Mieko was born in Kumamoto and raised in Fukuoka Japan. After finishing college she moved to Tokyo were she worked as an accountant.

After meeting Gary during one of her frequent visits to Toronto, Mieko and Gary married in Japan and soon after she  immigrated to Canada with Gary. Currently Mieko is the Financial Director at Momiji Health Care Society and is involved in many volunteer groups.

One of her dreams has been fulfilled with Akané Log Home Bed & Breakfast. She is interested in meeting new people from different backgrounds and the B&B now gives her the opportunity to do just that!!!

 

GaryGary Nakashima

Born and raised in Toronto, Gary is a graduate of the University of  Toronto. After finishing with an Honours Degree in Microbiology, Gary spent two years with CUSO as a teacher and Head of Science at Peki Secondary School in Ghana, West Africa. He has traveled extensively in West and East Africa.

Since returning to Canada, Gary has taught at Malvern Collegiate and at Monarch Park Collegiate. Gary retired from teaching in January 2007.

Both Gary and Mieko have explored Japan and Canada, staying at numerous B&B's in Canada and Inns in Japan. They have a daughter, a son and and 2 grand daughters (4 and 0.5 years old)

Mieko and Gary strive to provide their guests with a clean, cozy, relaxed, and enjoyable stay.
