Haliburton Restaurants “Aniź” Update April 24, 2012

Sadly one of our favourite restaurants here in Haliburton is closed and will not be reopening. A new restaurant called the “Haliburton Bistro” will take its place. Let’s hope it will be just as good as Aniź. Below is our original post about Aniź.

“Renowned Haliburton chef David Adams in partnership with restaurateur Maarten Steinkamp welcome you to step into a world of the extraordinary and explore the true pleasures of fine Mediterranean dining….. Located on Highland Street in beautiful downtown Haliburton, Aniź is wheelchair accessible and open year round. Bienvenido!”

This is one of the many Haliburton restaurants that we always highly recommend to our guests.  Service, decor and food are always excellent. If you have a chance to dine here, we are sure you will not be disappointed. Closed from January and will be reopening in May. http://www.aniz.ca/

Moon Shadows Estate Winery: Haliburton’s first winery

Excerpt from Moon Shadows Estate Winery’s “Welcome” page.

“From the earlier years of their maple syrup production came the concept of maple wine and from there Moon Shadows Estate Winery was born. It is not only Haliburton’s first winery but also Ontario’s first maple winery, opening its doors in July 2005. Using maple syrup in the fermentation process, this local winery offers customers 20+ unique fruit and maple wines, from dry to sweet.

Among their selection of wines, Golden Maple, Cran Maple and Maple Sugar all feature the heavenly taste of maple and are among the most popular. As well, a variety of grape wines are available.

Wine tasting is offered daily at the tasting bar and winery tours can be arranged upon request.

Our favourite wine is their Black Currant fruit wine. They have won many awards for their different wines both nationally and internationally.

Besides selling wine, Moon Shadows Estate Winery also has a gift shop with many unique items that will interest you. We highly recommend them and let them know, when you visit them, that you read about them in our blog. www.moonshadowswinery.com/wine.htm

Haliburton Restaurants “McKecks The Blueline”

“McKecks The Blueline”, was established in 1986 by former Toronto Maple Leaf Walt McKechnie, “McKecks” has been a Haliburton landmark up to the present time. In 2009 Walt McKechnie retired and the new owners changed the name to “McKecks The Blueline”. While maintaining the same ambience and friendly courteous service, the new owners have added to their menu selection so that you now have more variety. “McKecks The Blueline” is one out of many Haliburton restaurants that is always recommended by us and the feedback we have received from our guest that have eaten there has always been positive. Prices are reasonable and portions are large
